None, really: Coughing is related to having fluid in the lungs. It is not going to respond to a cough suppressant or expectorant. It responds to diuretics, which help to remove the fluid from the lungs.

CHF: Congestive heart failure patients usually have structural abnormalities of the heart muscle and can have rhythm abnormalities so yes. Dental care both in the office and at home is important. A the dentist some office procedures and drugs could be problematic. Poor dental hygiene at home could result in infections which could cause valve problems. So dental care is important.

Yes: Normal, non-stress echocardiogram is an excellent way to evaluate heart function & efficiency, specifically left ventricular ejection fraction (lvef). Systolic dysfunction is the most common form of heart failure w/low lvef. Diastolic dysfunction is much less common form of heart failure w/normal lvef. Chest xray will reveal decompensated heart failure once fluid starts backing up into lungs.

It can happen: Unfortunately, sometimes young people also get affected by heart failure.  Most often it relates to a viral infection that infects the heart muscle, called "myocarditis".  This can lead to substantial heart failure in young patients, and is treated similarly to older patients with hf.  However, sometimes the disease can get so bad that heart transplant needs to be considered.

Many: The cornerstone of therapy is a diuretic ("fluid pill"). Drugs that dilate the blood vessels (vasodilators, ace inhibitors) and drugs that reduce the work load of the heart (beta blockers) should always be included unless there is a specific contraindication. A drug that blocks the hormone aldosterone (spironolactone or inspra) should also be used if possible. The underlying cause should be sought.

It can: Low voltage in an EKG suggest cardiomyopathy. Which goes by the hand with Heart Failure.
- In addition Electrical Alternans in the EKG is also suggestive of heart failure
