Excision or shave: Generally two ways to remove moles.  If a mole is elevated, becoming irritated, a dermatologist can carefully remove it to the base with a "shave technique".  This eliminates need for sutures, and generally the area heals well.  Deeper moles may need small excision to remove completely, which would require sutures.  Lasers are generally not recommended for removing moles.

It depends/not bad.: It depends on where the mole is as well as its size, etc..  If the mole is irregular and large, it might need wide excision to rule out, and capture a possible malignancy, like melanoma.  If it is small and uniform, it can be removed like a wart with outpatient surgery, likely by freezing it off.  Pain killers, etc csan be given, so there is probably little or no pain.  Best to get it removed.

It is not complicate: A mole should be removed by a physician who has the experience in doing this type of  work. This is commonly done by dermatologists(skin specialists) or by a general surgeon or by a plastic surgeon.

Numb it first: Mole removal shouldn't be painful at all.  Whether it is excised, punched out or shaved, the doctor should use some numbing agent like Lidocaine to anesthetize the area so that you don't feel it at all.  All you may feel is the numbing needle injections.

Depends: First, it depends how large the mole is. Next, it depends on how it is removed (shaved from the surface of the skin or punch biopsy or excised).  Was it cauterized or were sutures used?  What part of the body is the mole located? If it is small and shave removed, it could heal in two weeks. If it is large, excised and on the lower leg, it could take as long as 2 months.

Most : Most mole excisions are not that painful, but depending on the area involved, the initial numbing injection may be more sensitive. Usually this can be done with a very thin needle and is generally well tolerated. The pain afterwards also should be relatively mild because of the superficial and limited surface area of the surgical site.

Usually not.: It depends on where on the face it is located, but as a rule, in the hands of a skilled plastic surgeon, the scar that results from excision of a mole usually heals very well and can be expected to be less conspicuous than the mole. Often it can become practically invisible. But there is always a possibility for a scar with which you might not pleased.

May be an infection: If it is swollen , growing and really painful, it may be an infection. It should be seen by a doctor- today-in the er -for possible drainage and antibiotics.
