Yes: Pregnancy occurs when the sperm meets the egg and fertilizes it in the fallopian tubes.  Ovulation is the porcess by which a woman releases an egg.  Therefore, an egg must be released for pregnancy to occur.  Ovulation occurs usually around day 10-17 of the menstrual cycle, with day 1 being the day you get your period.

Since you cannot "know" when ovulation will be unless you own an US machine, best strategy is aim for early, the sperm will wait for the egg,  but NOT the other way around

Your "fertile period" which is the time in your cycle when you are most likely to get pregnant if you have frequent sexual-genital intercourse with a fertile man, beginning about 1 day before you ovulate and extending  to 2 to 3 days after ovulation.

~ 10-19 days: Pregnancy test (blood) usually become positive 4-5 days after the fetus attachment to the uterus (to connect with the mother’s blood system, happens in 6-12 days after ovulation and fertilization). Also the urine test is positive about 2-3 days after the blood test.
