Life is not perfect: Life is never perfect nor 100%. Things just happen, sometimes. Each woman's body has to respond to the artificial hormones in the pills, and maybe once in a rare while she still manages to ovulate. The percentages are about a population of women, NOT about one woman. Medical statistics have to be interpreted this way, because nobody knows what the percentage effectiveness is for a specific woman.

Yuzpe method: An old fashioned method is to take 100 ucg of estrogen twice 12 hours apart. Most pills contain 20-30 ucg of estrogen so depending on the brand you would take 4 or 5 pills at once and then repeat 12 hours later. Be prepared for some serious nausea.

No remembering!: The majority of oral contraception failures are due to incorrect use.  You forget to take the pill.  You get sick and throw it up.  You take an herb or antibiotic that interferes with the pill's action, etc.   IUDs remove the human factor.  In addition, they are positioned in the uterus where they can have a dramatic effect without the side-effects a pill would have to get the same result.

: You asked this question before. There is no reliable statistic data for withdrawal method so I would add another 5% effectiveness on top of combination BC pills and that's why I come up with the 95% effectiveness. Unfortunately, there is no method with 100% effectiveness even with tubal ligation.

See a Provider: We are lucky that there are so many oral contraceptives to choose from. There are ones that give light flows, and reduced frequency of flows.  Since you have so many options, you should spend some time exploring them with your provider. Low dose pills are popular and can protect you against cysts, cancer and of course , unwanted pregnancy and painful periods.

Adenomyosis: Adenomyosis is the development of glandular material from the endometrium interdigitating into the smooth muscle of the uterus causing it to enlarge and often produce copious bleeding. Alesse is being used to try to control the heavy bleeding without using surgery as an alternative. This diagnosis is usually made at the time of hysterectomy via the pathological specimen.

im taking combined oral contraceptive pills since april 2021. now i have colds/clogged nose, will it be just fine if i take medicine to treat my colds? can the coc pills still be effective & protect me, even if i take meds to treat my clogged nose?

: It's fine to use decongestant whole on Birth control, and no, it will not alter efficacy. You can also try intranasal sprays which may work much  better and certainly don't interfere with your meds. May your nose breath easier after this answer!
