Depends on Dosage: 550 mg naproxen sodium orally once, followed by 550 mg naproxen sodium every 12 hours, or 275 mg (naproxen sodium)/250 mg (naproxen) every 6 to 8 hours as needed. Titrate to a maximum daily dose of 1100 mg naproxen sodium or 1000 mg naproxen.

Be careful mixing: Discuss with your obgyn. Their are better treatments. Too much Acetaminophen can hurt the liver and too much Naproxen can hurt the kidney. If they are to be used together you need to know the limits and this needs to be set by your doctor.
This one time event is probably ok. But see your obgyn asap.

i'm having surgery in a week and a half. told not to take ibruprofin, aleve or asprin, week before. what can i take instead of menstrual cramps?

Tylenol: acetaminophen is the only over the counter analgesic that would not interfere with platelet function preoperatively.

Other ways: To offset the pain should be explored because 3 Aleve could be on track to irritate your stomach lining and ulcer creation if this becomes a habit.  Other maneuvers: alternate nsaid with tylenol (acetaminophen) (keep under 1-2 grams per day), use the pain relievers very early to get maximum effects, stay away  from  cigarettes and cut down on caffeine, use warm compresses or a heating pad on your back, and try warm baths.  Regular exercise. Consult with  your ob/gyn for further recommendations.

Over counter meds: Generally, it is advisable to always ingest no more than the recommended daily limit of a medication.  Naproxen can be taken up to 500 mg three times a day for up to several days to a week or so.  If you require more than this, you should be evaluated by your doctor.

Menstrual pain: If this is unusual for you perhaps it's not cramps and I would get examined.  If this is your usual pain then follow up with your healthcare for an exam to be sure it's not something else.

All ok: with birth control.  Ibuprofen, naproxen, may increase gastric irritation/inflammation.
