Chest pain: Does it increase with taking a deep breath? Is it affecting your breathing? Asthmatics can have a spontaneous pneumothorax that can cause such symptoms. You may want to call your doctor and get checked.

Cure your asthma: Stop doing things that are hurting your lungs like smoking or living with people who smoke. Marijuana & tobacco are both bad for your lungs. Add omega-3 & vitamin d to your diet. See an allergist to find other causes for asthma. Allergy shots (immunotherapy), work to mature your immune system sharing concepts with homeopathy. Time-consuming but often curative. Just don't suddenly quit your meds.

It's OK: It is OK to use this combination when instructed to do so by your doctor for acute asthma problems.  Advair is a maintenance medication that contains a steroid and a long-acting beta agonist.  Albuterol is the short acting version of the beta agonist.  Sometimes during asthma attacks you require the short acting medication.  Overuse of it can lead to further problems, however.

Rescue/maintenance: Albuterol is a rescue medication (unless used before exertion) and it's frequency of use dictates the status of ones airways.  Ideally albuterol should be used rarely if at all but that is not always the case.
Advair is a daily maintenance medication.  It's use should in theory reduce or eliminate the need for the use of a rescue medication (eg albuterol).  If both are needed albuterol is first.

Albuterol or Advair: Albuterol may worsen palpitation, shaking and nervousness. Advair should not produce or worsen those symptoms. It is much safer than the oral pills for asthma.
