Amebas not friendly: The risk of getting sick with amebiasis is very high.

It is Cat B: But some does cross the placenta, I do not recommend douching, vaginal Metrogel is safer even though that does not work well if you have trichomonas, if you have BV i would recommend Cleocin (clindamycin phosphate) vaginal it is cat b and would wait till you are out of  1st trimester which is 13 1/3 weeks i never rec douching when you are preg but u need to discuss with the doc who is taking care of your pregnancy.

Yes: Metronidazole is the drug if choice for treatment in pregnancy, even in the first trimester. Despite theoretical concern for teratogenicity, a meta-analysis showed no link to birth defects.

Old recommendation: Flagyl/ Metronidazole is very common given during pregnancy even in the first trimester. The recommendations to avoid it in the first trimester are outdated.

Not fully protected: Full protection from getting pregnant after starting to take birth control pills is typically not achieved during the first but during the second cycle. A backup method during the first cycle is recommended.

im on combined pill but started taking 400mg of flagyl day and night for 7days on tuesday. i had unprotected sex on wednesday night. pregnancy likely?

Not likely: Antibiotics can sometime limit effectiveness of oral contraceptives. Since the time frame is short, not likely you would become pregnant. Back up birth control would be warranted this cycle.
