Prefer not!: It is really not safe to use any unnecessary chemicals when you are pregnant. Less is always better.
On the other hand there are not a lot of studies that answer that question because we dont like to do studies on pregnant women!'
its always best to err on the side of caution.

Yes: In the first half of the last century, hair coloring actually contained "coal-tar dyes" which were not only unsafe for the pregnancy, but were questionable for the mom as well!  today's hair colorings are safe -- therefore, safe for pregnant moms.

Yes: I generally recommend not coloring your hair down to roots as to decrease absorption into your system.  If you don't have to color your hair it is generally best not to.

Please ask your OB: Hair dye has nothing to do with a cerclage, you should use as little bleach as possible, all ?S about anything should be directed to your OB , go pacers.

Unknown: There aren't any good studies on hair dye in pregnancy that I know of.   Each hair dye is different and some of the chemicals can be absorbed through the skin.  But we don't really know what affect this might have on the baby.  Best wishes!

Maybe: There is no clear data to say it is not safe however there is no data to say hair dye is safe--it isn't tested in that way. In theory, it should be safe, especially after the 1st trimester, but you should use your own judgment and consult with your obstetrician.

Best avoided but...: Most hair dyes contain toxic ingredients, some of which are carcinogenic. I'd avoid all in the 1st trimester. If you  REALLY need to dye your hair after 1st trimester you can try to find a nontoxic choice but they're all toxic to some degree so if you want to have a healthy baby please wait. If you coloured your hair and your baby had problems how would you feel?

Uncertain: There seems to be differing opinions regarding use of hair dye while pregnant. Some doctors indicate that it's likely safe (especially after 1st trimester). Other doctors recommend no unnecessary contact w chemicals during pregnancy. I would be concerned w bleaching before hand &amp; products w ammonia, peroxides &amp; other chemical ingredients. Wish I could find a good study to refer you to.
