Yes but...: If you have normal renal function and no gastrointestinal bleeding or ulcers, then an occasional dose of 400 mg Ibuprofen (2 tabs) may be ok.  The maximum is 2400 mg per day.  However, you should not take that on a regular basis - it will affect the kidneys and it greatly increases the risk of esophageal or stomach bleeding.  Also, it depends on what other meds you take.  Check with your doctor.

What for?: Depends on what you are taking the Advil (ibuprofen) for? Taking daily Advil (ibuprofen) could cause rebound headaches for example. It could also affect your kidneys especially if you had a condition that can affect those as well( like diabetes or hypertension for example).Depending on what type of pain you are taking it for will determine alternative treatments. See your doctor for evaluation and management of your pain

Ibuprofen is one of the NSAID- which can cause gastric bleeding,interferes with kidney function &amp; BP.
