Scabies: This would not be uncommon if the scabies have been treated. A sign your body is getting rid of the scabies. If redness develops with a fever though possibility of infection and you should be seen.

Yes: After treatment the residual scabies are still in the skin, though dead. Gentle buffing with a loofah in the shower and application of moisturizer may speed up the normalization of the skin's appearance.

Scabicide &amp; dryness: Scabies treatments often contain a high percentage of alcohol which can be very drying to the skin, especially sensitive tissues of the face and genitals.  Hypoallergenic soaps and lotions which are pH balanced will help the skin recover more quickly, and reduce the itching that can last up to two weeks after treatment.

Maybe/not: The rash &amp; itching from scabies is primarily due to an allergic reaction to the poop the bug leaves in its burrows. It is not due to the bugs moving. It can take 6-8 weeks after the bugs are killed for your skin to recover and all symptoms to stop. Used correctly, there is no reason to re-treat unless you can identify new sites/burrows.

Yes: Scabies is treated with a topical scabicide such as 5% permethrin.  It is applied over the entire body from the chin to the toes and left on for 8 to 14 hours before washing off.  The treatment is repeated 1 week later.  The scabies burrows can take a while to disappear after treatment is started.

See a doctor: Sounds like the scabies are getting infected. You should be treated both for the scabies as well as the skin irritation or infection

Scabies: Itching can continue for 2-3 weeks after treatment for scabies.  The mite is killed by the medication but the remaining bodies and feces still remain to cause a reaction.

i continue having new outbreaks, 44hrs after taking po ivermectin for mild scabies, is this normal? or does this mean tx has failed/isn't effective?

Consider re-exposure: Ivermectin is highly effective for scabies.  New skin lesions suggest you are having repeated exposure in your environment (such as bed, clothing, etc.).  Carefully quarantine clean clothes that have been dried on a high setting.  Consider using an insecticide "defogger" in your bedroom, and clean/dry all sheets, pillows, bed clothes at high dryer setting.

i have scabies but mostly on torso arms and thighs is this normal?

Possibly: Scabies can affect most body sites, but preferentially affects body folds and creases.  The skin between fingers/toes, groin, and armpits are the most common sites.  Most dermatologists will be able to do a scraping in the office and tell you if you have scabies or not.
