Several: If you are referring to yourself, menstrual cycles become irregular the closer to menopause you get. This is usually due to ovarian dysfunction, which also is the reason fertility declines significantly after age 40. However, irregular bleeding can also be from more serious causes including uterine cancer. Any abnormal bleeding after age 40 warrants evaluation. See a physician with these concerns.

About Plan B...: Plan B can alter the menstrual bleeding for the cycle in which Plan B was taken, and sometimes the next cycle too. One should be sure to check a home pregnancy test about 3 weeks after sex, because Plan B works most of the time, but not all the time. One should be sure to have a reliable type of ongoing birth control, the PlanA, in order to never need the PlanB again.

Stress?: If you are stressed, it can cause your hormones to be altered. Secondly, if your boyfriend has ejaculated on the outside of your vagina, it is possible that a sperm cell  swam up inside of you and fertilized an egg. You may have had an early miscarriage. Make an appointment with your family doctor or OB/GYN and get checked out.

Just continue pack: Breakthrough bleeding (bleeding at the wrong time)  is very normal happening in about 1/3 of users. It usually self corrects over time.  If you are not satisfied or it continues to happen  then consider using a different birth control method.Your pregnancy test is neg so you are not pregnant. If pills are not helping PMS then see your doctor to discuss other options.

Very common: After your period some blood remains in the back of the vagina and then slowly comes out. Consider starting birth control to decrease the length of your cycles.
