No special diet: You do not need a special diet during your menstrual period.  But once a month maybe you can assess how healthy your diet is -- plenty of vegetables, fruits, lean meats or other proteins, healthy fats, complex carbs and avoiding processed foods/white flour, etc.  It never hurts to see where we are in taking care of our health.  :-).

Nausea remedies: Nausea just before or during the period is sometimes from the chemical prostaglandin that comes from the uterus.  Nausea can also be due to painful cramps.  Natural remedies for nausea can include ginger, as a tea or supplement, using sea bands (for motion sickness but can help with other types of nausea), sipping on soda pop (not diet) or you can try over the counter nausea medication.

Could be: One way to ascertain may be by limiting your periods. Your doctor can prescribe a pill that can limit your period to once a year or so.
Have a healthy diet, exercise 30 minutes/day, drink plenty of water, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs. For nutrition: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/.

Now, overall when one uses a substance like marijuana or alcohol or nicotine then we worry about long term health consequences overall.

Why would u want to?: If you are having bleeding in between your periods that is not normal and needs a workup or if you are having enough discharge u want to wear them , that also is not normal and needs evaluation, diagnosis and treatment, so please see your gyn.

Period relief: Try: omega- 3 fatty acids or magnesium (supplementation or through diet) with your doctor’s approval.   Nsaid'scan help with pain.  Discuss use of a traditional herbal like black cohosh with your doctor.  Chamomile tea can be soothing. Sipping green tea can also dissipate pain. Avoid caffeine, alcohol, extra salt.  A warm heating pad is beneficial. Acupuncture is excellent for dysmenorrhea.
