Yes: Hot flashes and mood changes can occur when taking prednisone.  Night sweats can occur with prednisone/steroids as well.

i just started 20mg prednisone tonight for bronchitis. i took it at 8pm & its now 1:40am. im having hot flashes & i'm only 19. how do i control this side effect? i don't like it, but i can't breathe.

Bronchitis: The flashes are likely from the prednisone. It will take another 6 hrs at least to get breath relief from the drug. There isn't much you can do till bronchitis relieved and Prednisone tapered down. Most folks do have the side effect shrink with time.

Not hot flashes: Possible causes are lupus, prednisone and fevers. Discuss with your rheumatologist.

Likely: Yes, Prednisone can make you feel jittery and uncomfortable.  Steroids have many unfavorable side effects.  I would contact your doctor to let them know the trouble you are having and to determine if there may be another reason for your symptoms.

i was put back on prednisone this morning for my 5th time in 6 months. i never had a reaction to it, but i have a ha and hot flashes. should i worry?

i'm 67 long past menopause but i've been experiencing "hot flashes" again. i take 10 mg of prednisone daily and a shot of methotrexate weekly. are these drugs causing flashes?

Possibly: Hormones are a type of steroid. They have similar chemical pathways in which your body can process them.  It is also possible that you are having a side effect similar to a hot flash.

i was rx 20mg prednisone 1/day for 5days for earache that began to worsen & radiate to sinuses. took first dose today & am having uncontrollable hot flashes & sweating. is it safe to just not take the other 4 pills? thank you.

Probably stop: Sounds like you are sensitive to the steroid. Some people are more sensitive than others. If a steroid would help perhaps a nasal steroid would be better. However, probably the best and most beneficial thing is to use nasal saline or nettipot.

Thyroid replacement: Thyroid hormone replacement should make you feel better, and not give you side effects.  The T3 (liothyronine) and other bovine stuff in armour may be responsible for your hot flashes.  You should be on levothyroxine.

i have been taking estrodol for hot flashes and have had severe nausea.  is there an estrogen replacement that doesn't have this as a side effect?

Hormone replacement: There are many options either over the counter or prescription that can help with hot flashes.   Estradiol should be used with progesterone in any woman who still has a uterus to prevent uterine cancer.  If side effects are severe, please see your prescribing doctor to see if dose adjustment or change in medication would be better.

my husband chf, and only pumps 17 pre. today he is very dizziy, tried, soure, and is haveing hot flashes. could this be a side effect of low potassium?

GET IT CHECKED: You should get it checked with your doctor or the cardiologist.Your husband has chf, we dont know what his ejection fraction is, he is dizzy and having hot flashes.He should see his doc to find out what is going on with him.
