i have had a fever for for days now three of them the fever had been up above a hundred. i have been taking excedrin and dayquil but there not helping?

Accepted Answer

See below: Fevers alone without signs of breathing problems, dehydration, behavioral issues, or other severe symptoms are not a worry, unless, the fever lasts more than 5 days straight or is over 105 for your age.  Any number of viruses can do this.  However, if concerned, see you pcp.

is it bad that i took two excedrin in the morning, two advils (ibuprofen) in the afternoon, and two excedrins at night? have a fever, they haven't helped thatmuch

See your PCP: If you have pain fever for a longer than 40 hours, you should see your doctor to avoid complications.

i gave my son an excedrin extra strength at 7 pm and now he is running 102 fever. can i give him a 600 mg ibuprofen?

Accepted Answer

: It would be prudent to consult with his pediatrician as he may have an infection requiring antibiotic treatment. You may give him ibuprofen as it is different from Excedrin. Make sure he drinks enough water and/or juice so that he passes urine every 4-6 hours.

took a pill of butal apap for head, heartbeat kinda fast. not sure if due to flu, fever or medication. can i take excedrin for horrible headache?

Headach: Your headache and rapid heartbeat may be due to butal. You may take excedrin but drink lots of fluids to wash the butal out of your system.

never taken prescription butalapap. i have a horrible headache. flu and fever. how likely is this to cause side effect? how strong is it? says only 325 acetametaphin. if not work, can i take excedrin?

Possibly the flu: The symptoms you are describing are unusual for butalapap. More likely you have the actual flu, as it is flu season and your symptoms sound just like the flu. I suggest that you see your doctor today. If it is less than 72 hours since the symptoms started, and you do have the flu, you can be started on an anti flu medication to improve recovery. NO!: Stop all aspirin ( excedrin) and NSAIDS ( ibuprofen )- both will cause increased acid production and GI distress. Only low dose Tylenol and a clear fluid diet:
NO SOLID FOODS FOR 48 HOURS
Force fluids: 8-10 glasses/day:
Electrolyte rich fluids- Gatorade, Powerade, Vitamin Water
Protein rich fluids: broth bullion, consume.
AVOID ALL CITRUS JUICES: orange, grapefruit, pineapple, cranberry etc.
Avoid all aspirin, Advil, Aleve (NSAIDS).
If not improving go to private physician or ER.

headache x3 days. woke me up last night around 2am. tried excedrin, motrin, and tylenol (acetaminophen) nothing helps. vomiting everything i eat/drink no fever.

Headache: This headache sounds pretty severe.  It appears you have a history of migraine. Is this one similar or much worse?  Migraines shouldn't last more than 3 days. 
If this headache is not improving and/or very different from your typical migraines, please see a doctor right away. Your doctor if possible today, ER if your doc is unavailable.

Fever: A fever means you are sick. You may have been starting to become sick earlier in the day. Drinking may have made you feel worse. If you aren't getting better; see your doctor. All the best.

No: These medications are both antiinflammatory and should never be used together.
