Doubt cancer: You have laryngeal irritation. Can be benign polyps or chronic post nasal drip.  Consult ENT for eval.

would someone with esophageal or throat cancer have abnormal blood results?

Not necessary: Most early cancers have normal blood results. Blood results only change when cancer is far advanced or metastatic.

Depends: Esophageal cancer is caused by a number of factors.  Eating smoked or cured meats has been shown to be a risk factor for developing esophageal cancer in many studies.  Other risk factors include smoking, alcohol use and chronic acid reflux from the stomach.  So i would encourage you to find a new favorite food.  :).

: If food is always getting stuck in the same place in your chest or throat, then it may be caused by a stricture, or narrowing, in the esophagus. The stomach doctor could put a scope into your esophagus and then dilate the area, if present. This should solve the issue-sometimes it recurs and the procedure is repeated. ive made poor decisions and had untreated gerd for years and ive had lots of alcohol and acidic foods. my throat feels damaged and although im only 21 im worried i could have done enough damage to have esophageal cancer. is it possible?

: Whenever you ask the question "is it possibly", The answer is almost always "yes" (with a few exceptions).  However, is it likely, by your age, probably not. However,  Acid reflux over time could lead to problems like barrett's  esophagus.. (predisposing to future cancer), also esophageal damage, aspiration, etc.  Alcohol can add to it.  You may want to speak with a GI doc, and possibly endoscopy.

for the last 3 days, every time i drink something it feels like some of it comes right back up to my throat and i start burping. i also make my self cough because im afraid ill aspirate. does not happen with food at all. no pain. esophageal cancer?

Regurgitation: Your symptom is regurgitation and likely due to esophageal dysmotility. If persistent, obstruction should be ruled out with a barium swallow or endoscopy. While a tumor is in the differential diagnosis. a motility disorder or diverticulum is more likely, especially if you're a non-smoker and at your age.

Back pain: Lung cancer nor throat cancer are associated with back pain unless they have spread. I would let your doctor know about these symptoms.

so back pain that is caused by lung, throat, or esophageal cancer is from where it already has spread would i have additional symptoms not just upper back pain alone?

Accepted Answer

Back pain: If a tumor is the cause of your back pain, the tumor can spread into areas of the spinal chord or root. This would cause other neurological symptoms such as weakness , numbness or tingling.
