Antibiotics: Skin infections are not often treated with penicillins.  These are not choices i would make for my patients.

Probably not: Antibiotic soap can prevent infections, but it's unlikely to treat them once they happen.

Yes: Without knowing your specific situation Azithromycin, a macrolide, can treat mild/moderate cellulitis, as well as certain wounds.

Depends: It would depend on the type of penicillin allergy you had and the type of skin infection. If you just had a rash from penicillin and you do not have an MRSA infection cephalosporins like Keflex would be fine.  If immediate hypersensitivity to penicillin, clindamycin, Doxycycline or septra (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) would be options.

Sebaceous cyst: probably infected and you have gone too long without having it evaluated and treated. You may need a surgical excisional or drainage. Call for an exam and treatment.

Absolutely not: Keflex has always been one of the mainstay antibiotics for skin infections, right next to penicillin. There are other choices available in case of allergy or resistance.

fungal skin infection. what creams are as good as or better than daktacort. my rashes seem to have got worse rapidly?

Accepted Answer

Med not the problem?: There are dozens of alternative antifungal preparations.  However, often failure is due to problem with the medication reaching the fungus rather than which antifungal med used. You may do better with cream than ointment; you may need 3 or 4 times a day instead of twice; the problem may be something more than just a fungus. If initial therapy fails, best to ask pharmacist or doctor for recommend.

currently i am taking sertraline and hydroxyzine for anxiety and deoxicycline for a skin infection. what is a good cold medicine  for a lot of mucus?

Be cautious: You already are on hydroxzine, which is an antihistaminic, many cold medicines would contain an antihistaminic too, combining them would cause CNS depression. Doxycycline, an antibiotic, might not work, as you can very well have a viral upper respiratory problem. Saline nasal wash, and salt water gargles, if  sore throat, will help, if no improvement in a day or two, see your doctor,
