No: Actonel (risedronate) is a medication that stops bone remodeling, the process by which the bones of fetuses and children enlarge and shape themselves and the bones of adults keep themselves in good repair. While it is unlikely that actonel, (risedronate) which is a highly polarized drug, could cross the placenta, there is absolutely no acceptable reason to take this medication during pregnancy or lactation.

No: Irritating to esophagus, poorly absorbed drug, multiple interactions w/other meds to decrease absorption.  Need to tkae on empty stomach, first thing in am, empty stomach, with 8 ounces water; don't eat, take meds, or lie down for 1/2 h afterwards.

Solvent: It is an organic solvent that is very strong tho not as strong as dmso. Used to remove nail polish @ mor. A sever irritant to humans: skin GI tract & esp eyes.  Should b used with care.

Yes.: Intravenous Reclast (zoledronic acid) and Prolia injections would be good alternatives.

Depends on density.: The duration of treatment with Actonel (risedronate) or similar drugs depends on the bone density.  If osteoporosis is present the drugs are generally taken for 5 years.  If there is only a mild amount of bone loss the drug might be stopped depending on specific factors.  If there is estrogen deficiency or you are taking cortisone-like drugs Actonel (risedronate) would be needed to prevent bone loss.

See what your doctor is thinking. If you stop, you probably would not notice anything immediately, but osteoporosis is painless unless you break a bone.

Yes: Paget's disease of bone is associated with extremely rapid build up and breakdown of bone in affected areas.This leads to abnormal, enlarged and brittle bone. Risedronate slows down both the breakdown ad the build up and results in more normal appearing bone and can prevent some of the complications of paget's.
