*repeated infections, *commplicated infection, *asymmetry which is supicious for cancer, *enlargement that blocke breathing, speaking or swallowing, * bad breath and tonsil stones...

Accreditation.: An accredited surgery center meets strict standards for safety, equipment, and staff credentials. It should be licensed by the state, and accredited by at least one of the following: JCAHO, AAAASF, and/or AAAHC. You can easily search the Internet for websites of those organizations to verify a center's credentials.

Ask your MD: Call the office of the surgeon who performed the tonsillectomy. They will provide you with the exact recommendations on what and when to eat solid foods. Good luck.

im having parathyroidectomy. will surgery leave a strong odor on patient similar to tonsillectomy ?

Accepted Answer

No : Odor from tonsillectomy comes from bacteria growing in open wound in your mouth/throat.  Parathyroid surgery is performed sterilely  and there is no open wound.  No odor issue at all in my experience.

is it ok to take manuka honey 15+ nine days post tonsillectomy having had a couple of post surgery bleeds?

Should be ok: Manuka honey is known for its antibacterial and nutritional properties, and may be helpful in the healing process.  Under most circumstances, there are no dietary restrictions regarding honey (assuming no allergy), but since your personal surgeon is more familiar with you and your bleeds, he / she should be also contacted for clarification.

is it safe to do tonsillectomy surgery even if esr is high "32" ? should i postpone the surgery until the esr become normal?

: It depends on why the ESR is elevated. If it is due to inflammation in the tonsils, then it would not matter. Your doctor should be advised of the result and it would be reasonable to go with her/his opinion.

having a tonsillectomy in 12 days & haven't been able to sleep more than a few hours over the last 3 weeks. will this complicate my surgery?

Hard to say: Call the medical office that is going to perform the surgery and inform them of your issue.

tonsillectomy 10 days ago + a bleed that required surgery later that night. no blood since then. very worried i will bleed again. wondering if there's a known % of people that begin bleeding after day 10? do bleeds after day10 tend to be less severe?

Do not worry: Risk of bleeding 10 days after surgery is remote.

Very rare: In todays times it is very unusual to require blood transfusions for a tonsillectomy. The procedure is very different now and is an out patient procedure.
