Depends: There are different formulations of iron that are available. The dosing and frequency depends on the amount of elemental iron that is available in these formulations. Some formulations are easier on the stomach than others.  Sometimes intravenous iron may be indicated to replenish iron stores. : Iron deficiency is not associated with high fibrinogen levels. It can cause elevated platelet counts. It would be prudent to see the doctor who ordered the test to assess if you have inflammation.

Maybe: Some potent antacids can reduce the ability to absorb iron. If iron deficiency is causing anemia, and the anemia is not getting better on appropriate doses of iron, an antacid might, at least in part, be a problem. If there is ongoing blood loss or high iron requirement, from, say heavy menstruation or pregnancy, the amount of iron being taken may be the problem.

Probably: If anemia is suspected after a consultation with your physician, it is probably a good idea to have a CBC (complete blood count) with differential as well as iron studies and b12/folate level testing.

Simple blood work: nothing fancy. those are just simple blood test. you don't have to be fasting or do anything special for that.
