i get heartburn every time i eat carb foods (pasta, breads, oatmeal etc). is this gluten related? i don't experience other gluten allergy symptoms.

Possible: Try gluten-free oat to see if causes the same symptoms.   Even though you may not have the full-blown symptoms,and heart burn is not the usual symptoms in gluten intolerance, it cannot be totally ruled out.  Nonetheless it would be a good idea for you to consult a doctor regarding these symptoms.

gas after normal bowel movements. low carb and low sugar and dairy diet. incorporating fiber - prunes, apples raisins, oatmeal. colonoscopy 6 years ago was fine.
not sure what causes gas after a bowel movement?

Try varying it.: Fiber is viewed favorably for its absorption of fluid, preventing constipation, lowering cholesterol and (sometime) blood sugar. However, it can contribute to bowel gas. A trial of reduced fiber might help.  Another approach can be a trial of the active  agent in Gas-X, simethicone; it's available in oral forms. Its mechanism of action is the reduction of bubble surface tension, reducing gas.

what foods are good & bad after an attack of diverticulitis?  is oatmeal ok?

Soft foods: I suggest you avoid nuts, candies are hard foods and eat soft types of foods; apple sauce, chicken soup, peanut butter , etc.

is it bad to eat quaker instant oatmeal? is that true? they say it's bad because it does not need to cook, it only just hot water.

Opinions differ: Dear Sir:  Many seem to think that the instant oatmeals are not good for you because of many reasons but then they are really not bad if you use boiling water as this actually will cook the oatmeal that is there.  It is better to eat this than to not eat at all and eat other foods that are worse for you.  There are better choices  but you will be fine eating this off and on.

is eating instant oatmeal, instead of rice ,every breakfast good for constipation?

Well. yes.: Rice is a problem for constipation which is incredibly common in Asia for this reason. Enough water, vegetables and multiple sources of fiber would be good. Narcotics, rice, chronic use of cathartics would be bad.

individual: Bowel habits are specific to an individual and should not be manipulated to meet some definition of 'normal'.  It is a function of diet including fluids and activity level provided all else is equal.  Sounds like you are trying to manipulate a prior manipulation.  Just go back to your prior diet and activity level. Things should follow along.

i shaved my hair down to the scalp with just clippers. i washed with ivory soap and then applied aveeno (oatmeal) moisturizing lotion. is this good or bad?

Sounds good.: Cortisone lotion/cream after oatmeal bath sounds good. There is no significant interference with these agents.

11 mo son has hand foot mouth disease. doc said it's a bad version. he has horrible blisters/rash even on his bottom. are warm water baths ok? i read about oatmeal baths. good idea?

Aveno: Aveno sells a fine powder in packets that comes from the milling of oats. This does provide some relief from itching when added to tepid water and used as a soak. Please do not use oats, it just makes a sticky mess.

Sure: It is a mild soap.  It can help if you have sensitive skin issues.
