Probably sciatica: It is probably a sciatica, which is an irritation of a nerve in the back that causes pain to run down the leg.  Some cases do respond to rest, others need more aggressive treatment before they get better.  I would encourage you to be seen at some point if it does not get better.  Thank you for the question.

Hernia?: It's possible you may have a left sided inguinal hernia.  If you have been having a lot of constipation, sitting on the toilet and pushing a lot this can increase your risk.  A hernia can be above or below the groin crease.  Either way it sounds like you are in enough pain to see a doctor as soon as possible.

Urgent evaluation. : Large central disc herniation can compress the nerves to the bowel and bladder and this is called cauda equina syndrome.  Urgent surgical evaluation indicated within the the first 48 hours.

Need to see doctor: In the meantime go dairy free except yogurt.Take 4-8 OZ of plain yogurt daily.You will need a few tests to make the diagnosis.One of my teachers used to tell us " Abdomen is the temple of surprises ! "

i have had bowel problems i have a bad diet and don't drink or exercise enough which caused constipation earlier i had a bowel movement which came out fine but was small pieces i have recently had hip pain and a lot of stress/anxiety recently aswell?

: If you know that you don't drink enough water, or do exercise and have a bad diet you can correct all that to feel better. Doing that will improve or correct your constipation and you will feel better physically and mentally. Its up to you. Try it. Good luck.

Varies: All those things may or may not be related.  Starting with a good check up my your medical doctor may be a good start.  Possibly getting a rheumatology evaluation to look for a systemic problem might be a consideration as well.

See an Orthopaedist: Their are different potential causes of your hip pain.  By description, your pain could certainly be due to inflammation known as trochanteric bursitis.  An orthopaedic evaluation with x-rays is the best place to start to help identify the source of the problem first and then recommend treatment to help.

Doctor can evaluate: Aches and pains around a hip can be from inside the hip, outside the hip, nerves in the area, nerves coming to the area (from the spinal cord), etc...  Sometimes it is the muscles and ligaments; sometimes it is the joint; other times it is both. A primary care doctor can evaluate and examine, and refer to a specialist if needed.
