Antibiotics: I would get to the doctor as soon as you can for antibiotic treatment.  The injection can progress and travel leading to more severe complications.  A cold compress might help now until you can get to the doctor for evaluation and treatment.

Masking: Hot water may cause irritation/burning sensation. Such nerve signals would mask the itching sensation from the bites. You feel good because you don't feel itching.

Yes: The best thing i know for insect bites is an onion. Slice a fresh onion and rub the slice on the insect bite. It stops itching, reduces swelling, ...And thus picking. Homeopathic apis mellifica can also help.

Evaluation: Because of the persistence of this lesion and now it's getting hard I would highly recommend that you see skin doctor to evaluate it. He could be something as simple as the plugged sebaceous cyst to a foreign body or even and embedded parasite. A proper evaluation and possible biopsy needs to be done

i have very bad reactions to all insect bites but mosquitos seem to be the worst. the entire area swells, gets hot, hard, and extremely itchy. when i was you they gave me niacin to keep fleas from biting me, will the same work for mosquitos & spiders?

: Did it stop the fleas or did you get rid of them. If so worth a try but by hunch is that it will not help.  Using Off may help more. Give then both a try and let us know.

Is it infected?: Without physically examining your insect bite, there is only a medical guess as to what is triggering the weeping. Is it infected? This would be the 1st concern--addressing the infection is the only solution here. If the weeping is watery clear, then perhaps this is more of an allergic-type reaction that might respond to oral antihistamines such as allegra (fexofenadine). Call md if infected or not better soon.

Wrong Treatments ?: The real question is what not to do that slows down healing. Avoid using alcohol, peroxide, hibiclens, betadine, and bleach solutions. Inflammation ( red, hot, swollen, tender) is important to healing  so anti-inflammatories (motrin, advil) are bad. Cover the area with a clean dressing changed every other day  and protected from trauma.  Antibiotics do not help healing unless it is truly infected.
