can inhaling gas while pregnant affect your baby?

R U dizzy: Inhalation of hydrocarbons (sniffing gas fumes) would potentially cause harm only if you are feeling symptoms from it. If you are feeling light headed or dizzy form the fumes, then it may be affecting the oxygen amounts in your blood, which gets transmitted to the baby. Luckily, baby inside you lives in a low oxygen environment, so you would really need to harm yourself before it would affect baby.

Tough question: There probably aren't enough studies about mothers' exposure to gasoline fumes to tell you what effect this may have. Gasoline is certainly not safe to be inhaling for long for anyone though, pregnant or not. Your baby's brain is still developing and you may benefit from a different line of work temporarily. Your doctor could write you a note, though i understand if finances force you to work.

No harm likely: Natural gas is methane, small amounts always present, in environment.  Only large amounts, harmful, if interfering with your breathing, discuss with your doctor to be sure.

14 weeks pregnant and exposed to a natural gas leak (left burner on stove on for 12 hours). we are safe from any fire hazard now but im worried there may have been an effect on the fetus. i didnt feel any symptoms when my husband discovered it?

: What you described is not likely to have any adverse effect on the fetus. Carbon monoxide would not reach the fetus and as long as you did not have shortness of breath or other symptoms, enough oxygen would have been delivered to the fetus.
Get a carbon monoxide alarm.

Good digestion: Digestive symptoms are common in pregnancy.Make sure you are getting plenty of fiber, fluids & whole, nutritious foods. An easy bowel movement daily helps too. If you are constipated, gas may increase. Taking simethicone tabs may help & are safe, but start with what and how you eat and your other GI complaints may diminish. Last- develop a sense of humor- your "gas problems" are only the beginning.
