Generally, : no effect on contraceptive. Depending on timing of the start of  pill pack, starting with 1st day cycle gives immediate protection, any other start time may need 2 weeks to be effective.

Take it Now: If you are late taking just 1 pill, it may not give you much trouble. Some women will experience breakthrough bleeding which is irregular bleeding in this cycle. It will definitely reduce your birth control efficacy. I always advise patients to use another form of birth control if they miss a pill. do not think in general they pose significant health issues.

hello, does keenmind by flordis have an effect on ones birth control, i take yaz plus and there were a few ingredients that are abit concerning. ?

KeenMind: The product contains bacopa monnieri.  This is a plant called brahmi and has been used traditionally in Ayurveda medicine. It is used to treat for Alzheimer's disease, anxiety, and ADHD.  Bigest concern is for this to interact with amitryptiline.  Does not appear to effect BCP such as YAZ.

i started the birth control yaz last year november. the first month was fine and ever since i have had continual spotting. how can i stop it please. i am going away next weekend to mozambique and i cannot have this constant bleeding. please help.

Break through bleed: is common side effect of hormone contraception.  In some cases the lining of the uterus gets thinned down too much, causing bleeding. Your doctor might advise you stop the pills , four days  to allow the lining to thicken somewhat. Back up contraception, condoms for example till the next cycle/pill pack. Ask your  doctor if this would work work for you?

Continue: Continue taking 1 pill daily. Doubling up at this point will not be helpful. Hopefully all will be fine. All the best.

Depends: The pill is a potent medication that replicates hormones made by the normal female. There are some women whose family or personal medical history make the use of some forms of combination hormonal  birth control risky. This is something best decided during a thorough evaluation by the doc. For most others it is a valuable &amp;  safe form of BC.

Possible problem:  Per the Drugs.Com drug interaction checker "minocycline may reduce the effects of ethinyl estradiol in some women." In otherwords, the antibiotic could make the Yaz (drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol) less effective. So you should use back up birthcontrol method if having sex.

Common: This type of bleeding/discharge is common on the pill.  The pill is still effective and this is more of a nuisance than a problem.  The two options are to stay on this pill and see if it resolves or change pills.
