Watch and wait: The "lumps" may be normal lymphoid tissue. You may watch and wait. If one or more of the lumps, doubles in size, ulcerates, bleeds or changes color, or more lumps appear, consult your doctor.

Yes: Not the vein itself,  but tonsillitis would cause enlargement of the tonsil, inflammation of it’s base and a sore throat.

Keep gargling with: warm saline (1 tsp salt in glass of warm water and stir.) It can take time to heal. You can check with your PCP to find out what to do. If you have post nasal drip, it can irritate it more. You can use OTC Tylenol or Motrin to alleviate the pain. If it's feeling swollen with fever or headache, see your doctor in person for further management.

Blocked gland?: A sebaceous cyst is a collection of oily fluid that occurs when an oil gland is blocked.  Some folks are more prone to them than other and they often appear on the neck, shoulders, and back.  Try to avoid skin products that are oily.  I would also stay away from transfats and bad oils, which is good for overall health. Doc can diagnose and if that's the case, remove it.  Peace and good health.

Parvovirus B19: You may be describing erythema infectiosum caused by infection with parvovirus b19.  He will probably develop a lacy rash on arms or trunk within a few days.  It is also called slapped face fever.  The overwhelming majority of these infections are benign and self-limited and require no treatment.

Been treated?: If a child has a sore throat then he should always get checked out for strep throat which is one bacteria which can cause a tonsillitis.  If he has been treated and is recovering then i would recommend rest and lots of fluids.  A humidifier for the room can also sometimes help.

Antibiotics: Most tonsillitis whether it is strep tested positive or negative responds to antibiotic treatment. A peritonsillar abscess requires incision and drainage by an ENT doctor.
