RICE ALLERGY?: Among the cereals when first intruducing solid foods, rice cereal is the safest. Mothers are advised to give cereals one by one to avoid allergy especially to wheat. During diarrhea, we give rice cereal to the diet.

Probably not: You do not mention the age of the infant, but no infant under the age of 4 months needs cereal, and water only serves to dilute the calories they are taking in.  The only reason to feed the infant water is if they are vomiting, and you cannot get them to drink formula, pedialyte, or gatorade, in that order.

Cereal introduction: It is generally recommended that 4 month olds be started on one to two tablespoons of wet plain rice cereal once or twice a day with a spoon.  Once you are sure that constipation is not developing, the amount and frequency of these meals can be gradually increased.

Yes: Solids are started at 4 months old. Your baby can have other alternatives like oatmeal, barley , vegetables and fruits- first stage 4-6 months old. Try one kind of food for 4-7 days in case of allergic reactions.2nd stage from 6-9months old.

Dont need to: No need to add rice to baby's bottle unless it is for a medical reason like reflux.  Starting baby foods, that is feeding rice cereal watered down with breast milk or formula and feeding it with a spoon can begin at 4 to 6mo of age.

Follow baby: You can offer 1-2 tablespoons 2-3 times/day. It's not recommended to begin solids until baby shows signs of readiness (good head control, interested in your food, decreased tongue thrust). Do not force baby to finish either, follow her cues-if she leans back, doesn't open her mouth...Then she is probably done.

Yes: We start cereal at 4 months of age in formula fed babies and 6 months for breast fed babies.  There is little benefit for cereal prior to those times.

Yes,but: It does not improve babies nutrition, sleep or any other issue your friends may be promoting.Waiting until the kid can sit helps avoid problems &allows them to better  participate in the process & begins the transition to eating at a table, not in your arms.
