i was cooking pasta & it exploded onto the electric stove. i was exposed to heavy fumes for about ten minutes and my food tastes of burnt substance. i sometimes use cleaning products on stove or could it be burnt plastic? is this carcinogenic?

Concern: The taste could come from all the possibilities you mentioned.   A one type episode would be highly unlikely to be associated with th h any long term consequences.

Olive oil: EVOO - extra virgin olive oil from the first cold press method of processing is the very best but also the most expensive.

my son was cooking pizza in the oven and its burning. my whole kitchen is full of smoke. can we get smoke inhalation from breathing it in from the burnt pizza on the bottom of the stove. could see the smoke coming from inside of the oven?

: If you did not get any immediate symptoms like choking, cough, shortness of breath, do not be concerned with a little smoke inhalation.

: The smoke may irritate the lining of your throat and upper airway, but no long term damage is likely. Keep a window open, ventilate the kitchen. Watch for signs of shortness of breath,cough and fever.

: Natural gas intoxication is very obvious. If you have no symptoms, then you did not inhale enough of the gas to be toxic. Smart move opening the doors and windows to air out the house. Make sure this never happens again by making a stove check a part of your evening house lock up routine. It may save your life or someone else's. You might also want to invest in a gas detector to put in the kitchen

Exchanges??: If you are "into" the exchange plan of eating---it would the same as "stuffing" or one half cup = 2 starches and 1 fat.  Personally, i don't 
believe in the "exchange" program. If it worked well, we would have more success with it--which we don't.  The good about the "exchange" program is that it can teach patients about portion control.

Absolutely!: The main health issue with stoves and heaters than use wood for fuel is that they and the house are properly ventilated. If not, carbon monoxide and other noxious fumes can build up in the home, causing many symptoms and even death. If you are getting sick and relate it to a new stove the two may be connected. Many communities have services to come check stoves and heaters out for safety.

Not ideal: As basically all smoke has some carcinogens(cancer causing chemicals), granted usually in very small/trace quantities.  In small amounts/short exposures, this isn't likely to create any problems.  So I wouldn't worry too much, unless this is going to be a very frequent event.
