Sharp leg pain: Acute onset of sharp pain in a localized area on the leg may be an inflamation of the bursa or surrounding tendons. Try RICE plus 2 Alleve 2xs a day for three days . If not improved or worsened get it checked by an me or consider a virtual consult.

Spine surgery: You had a spinal fusion since feb 18, 2013. It has been more than 7 months. How many levels of surgery and what type of fusion? Increased numbness in the lower extremity and progressive neurological symptoms several months after surgery is not normal. You need to discuss this issue with your surgeon to prompt further evaluation. Medrol (methylprednisolone) dose pack, gabapentin, physical therapies are also recommended.

Many causes: Any time someone has redness and swelling of the legs/feet a blood clot has to be considered and ruled out.  This is done by using and ultrasound.    Other causes in this case could be infection, swelling due to fluid retention or problems with circulation.  It is important that you see a doctor for testing to determine the exact cause and receive proper treatment.

Not likely serious: A 10 year old with a brief chest pain and a pain afterward in the right leg below the knee is not likely to have anything serious like a blood clot traveling to the lung unless he has been at bed rest or immobilized for several days or had recent surgery.**But if he's still having leg pain and points to his calf, or if he's significantly more tender in that calf than the other&gt;go to ER to be safe.

Artery blocked: I am assuming you have already been checked for a blood clot.  If not this should be done first.  The lack of hair and swelling sound like a vascular problem.  You should have arterial Doppler or brachial index performed.  This is a problem which can be related to polycythemia. The next step is neurologic testing.  If you have lost hair in both legs there are endocrine causes

Mentstrual pains: Your symptoms can sometimes be explained by the activation of "endometrial" tissue by the drop in estrogen which occurs at the onset of menstrual bleeding.  This may be due to "endometriosis" , which can cause pain in both vaginal areas as well as seemingly anatomically unrelated areas. Consult your gyn provider. Oral contraceptives often can relieve these kinds of symptoms.
