Need more info: It may mean nothing or it may be significant. You need 24 hour urine collections to quantitate to amount of protein excreted as well as a precise measurement of kidney function. You also need an examination of the urine sediment to look for abnormalities there. Speak with your rheumatologist.

First attack work up: need complete work up of urinary tract from kidney to ureter to bladder . Workup usually involves kidney sonogram, tests of the ureter, bladder. Kidney stones are common. Kidney disease can be diagnosed, but may need actual kidney biopsy.

Nephropathy: please have your physician get a renal ultrasound, test your kidney function, get a 24 hour urine evaluation and obtain a repeat urine analysis and bacterial culture.

Yes: A patient can have nephropathy and microscopic blood in their urine and have normal renal function this can go on for a period of years. Nephropathy after period of years usually results in decreased kidney function

Check IFE  &amp; bone marrow

Hematuria: its to find out if the source of blood in urine is kidneys or bladder. You just ask for microscopic exam of urine. RBCs  from kidney in the urine are deformed or form castes or rouleaux. It's not so if the source of those red blood cells is bladder.
