One process is: Greater. In osteoporosis, bone resorption is more prevalent then bone formation. As a result, a negative bone balance occurs and bone loss will occur and over time osteopenia or osteoporosis will occur. Medications such as Fosamax and Boniva (ibandronate) slow down bone resorption.

Not sure: I dont know what you mean by bone formation sunk in but it sounds like you should be evaluated immediately.

i broke my upper humerus 12 weeks ago. it is still very painful and feels as if it's cracking when i move it. an x-ray shows it is healing and with calluses forming. might i be damaging this new bone formation by moving my arm a lot? i am aged eighty?

: Three months is about right for the bone to heal, but in our maturation we do not heal as quickly as in our youth.  Healed bones often are stronger than before, and not uncommonly differebntly shaped at the repair.  I suggest you phase into using the broken arm slowly increasing the load. Don't forget ti give your doctor a call about this,

Trigger finger: best treated by orthopedic exam and possible injection of the flexor tendons of the DIP joiint or surgical release of the entrapped tendon.

Sounds like a hernia: Better have it checked as hernias can lead to problems if not repaired.

Possible past trauma: Osteophyte appears as a small growth of bone. They can be the result of past trauma to the bone and sometimes they grow for an unknown cause.

The navicular bone is a critical bone to take good care of - if you are having pain, make sure you get in to have it evaluated.

will sleeping on a soft mattress affect my baby's growth? eg. the bones formation.

Not likely...: Babies in general move quite a bit during sleep..Soft/firm/pillow top beds probably won't make much of a difference since a new baby is only a few pound anyway. Just make sure baby sleeps on his/her back and that no blanket/bedding near face which may suffocate baby. Follow up with family doc/pediatrician regularly and ask lots of questions. Baby is precious. Congrats and good luck.

Probably: It sounds like you have a fracture non-union and surgery is indicated.

i had a bad foot sprain leading to formation of a bone spur that grew into one of my tendons causing pain/snapping. had it removed. could it return?
