hello i got the nexaplanon implant on the 19/05/16. i started my period as normal on the 6th and 8 days later i still have it, is this normal?

Yes.  The first 90: ..days more or less after getting nexplanon often cause irregular bleeding &amp; spotting.  This won't last.  Many women end up not having periods at all.  Dr. Anne

Yes: Implantation takes place about 7 to 10 days after conception - that could easily work out to cycle day 19 since you could ovulate between cycle day 7 to 21 depending on your cycle length.

Do a pregnancy test.: A late period could mean pregnancy therefore you should do a pregnancy test.  That could be due to implantation or anovulation due to an abnormal period.

Irregular: periods or other conditions causing frequent periods. Sex one day prior to a period is unlikely due to implantation. A gynecology evaluation would be helpful

Can cause bleeding: Irregular bleeding is a common and normal side effect of nexplanon. For some bleeding occurs less frequently than your normal cycle. For others more frequently. It can be annoying but it is not harmful. About 10% of users end of switching methods because of this side effect.

A heavy period: lasting more than a week is a significant problem that will have to be looked at.
Without an actual examination, I cannot give specific medical advice on your particular health, but, that degree of bleeding would often cause anemia.

Can cause bleeding: Irregular bleeding is a common and normal side effect of nexplanon. For some bleeding occurs less frequently than your normal cycle. For others more frequently. There is no normal bleeding pattern on Nexplanon. Your obgyn can attempt to control this breakthrough bleeding with other medications. For some this will work.

i am 42 years old and have had the implant for 5 years. my period is so irregular and i am wondering if it could be the implant. sometimes i would have my period for about 14 days with a break of 2-3 days inbetween. i do not want more children.

Normal side effect: The Progestin Implant has a 99.4% pregnancy prevention rate, which makes it one of the best ways to prevent a pregnancy. It lasts 3 years, and needs to be replaced. Many women on this single hormone contraceptive can have breakthrough bleeding, irregular periods or no periods. Talk to your Dr about your continued bleeding and whether an IUD or other method would be better for you.

NO: Sperm doesn't implant the embryo does. If you are asking if you can get pregnant after you ovulate then the answer is no.
