Ovulation: Mid-cycle spotting often occurs with ovulation. Spotting any time in the cycle can indicate infection or one of many conditions that need attention. If your menses start 14 days after the spotting you can assume it was ovulation. If abnormal spotting or bleeding persists see your gynecologist for evaluation.

Your body adjusting: Spotting after missing your Depo-Provera shot just indicates that your body is adjusting to "missing" hormone. If you've decided to have a baby, best to start prenatal vitamins (with extra Folic Acid) now to minimize risk of neural tube defect. Go see your Family Doc or OB for preconception counseling. Eat right, exercise regularly &amp; get plenty of sleep as you're going 2b in for major life changes

Just a variation: Not every period will be the same.  It is "normal" for periods to occasionally be heavier, lighter, earlier or later.  This can result from stress, illness, medications.  Keep a diary for the next 2-3 months of any menstrual symptoms you have.  If things go back to regular, no worries.  If not, see a GYN.

Hormones may be off: You should make sure you are not pregnant with a test. Your gyn should do an exam , blood work and ultrasound and you may not need anything or some y=type of hormonal treatment like birth control pills depending on what the problem is.
