Not likely: Full-blown serotonin syndrome is a medical emergency, and can include loss of consciousness and seizures. Sounds like the cough syrup with dxm is being abused, and your doctors, who are trying to treat anxiety and depression, are flying "blind" if they don't know about your drug use. Be honest with yourself and with them, and let them know what is going on. Stop the cough syrup, talk to your docs.

: Could be an interaction between drugs, but more likely if you are on any other medication.  Let your prescriber know of this reaction  since you never had any previous reactions. Don't changes dosages of medications until instructed to.

Not likely : because you are taking very little zoloft.  Do not do it in the future

i take zoloft (sertraline) 150mg daily and i currently have a bad cold and cough. is it safe to take nyquil? i read articles saying it can cause serotonin syndrom.

Ok for short time: Yes you may take . You can also try simple Benadryl, (diphenhydramine) or Claritin for decongestant.
 Steam Unhalation and Ginger Tea will help you.
 Afrin Nasal Spray for less than 3 days as decongestant can be used

: I don't think the ingredients in plain robitussin syrup would be a problem with venlifaxine but I recommend checking with your pharmacist to be certain.

i take zoloft nightly (12 am)and just took tussin dm ( 2 pm) will i be okay? i take 50 mg zoloft and 10 ml of the cough syrup. worried about seratonin

Mixing these: two medications may increase risk for serotonin syndrome. I can't reassure that you wouldn't have problems because some people have Serotonin on a brief, low dose of an SSRI.

i have really bad depression, pts, and i have bipolar. im on endep 50mg twice a day zoloft (sertraline) 100mg twice a day n zyprexa 10ml once daily, is it lifetime?

Bipolar Disorder: Will likely require life-long medication. However, that doesn't necessarily mean that you will always need the same medication regiment. Take care.

been taking cipramil (10mg). went up to 20mg 5 nights ago. would i know if i had serotonin syndrome by now? also been taking zyprexa (olanzapine) (5mg) no symptoms

Accepted Answer

Although some: people can develop serotonin syndrome on low doses of meds - most often the person is either on high doses of serotinergic drugs or on mixes. If you have no symptoms at 20mg I would not be particularly worried.
