Round Ligament: It could be from the round ligament of the uterus stretching as the uterus expands. Most women describe it as a sharp or tugging pain radiating to the labia. Try tylenol (acetaminophen) for the discomfort and consult your OB so you can be properly evaluated. Avoid any NSAID drugs (like ibuprofen) unless your OB says its ok.

i am 37 weeks pregnant and have sharp shooting pains in my vagina and lower back pain what does that mean? my vagina feels crampy n i get the sharp pains when the baby moves

This : This is nearly impossible to answer without examining you.  Many women have pain during pregnancy, but there are lots of different reasons why.  First, you might be having contractions and going into labor.  If you are not in labor, the weight of the baby is certainly putting your low back under stress.  Massage during pregnancy is recommended to help relieve some of these aches and pains.  Other causes would also need a doctor's exam to determine:  hemorrhoids, varicose veins, sciatica, and osteitis pubis (pubic symphysitis).

CALL YOUR OB NOW !!!: U should not be asking that here , call your OB who is on call right now or has someone covering for him or her as if you have any concerns and u were my pt, on a sunday i would send u straight to the labor room so you and the baby can be checked out to see what is going on !

37 weeks  pain: Call your doctor-now someone is always on call/ go to ER. Any bleeding? May be labor  or UTI( which at this point in pregnancy is significant)or vagina infection or pre-eclampsia or abruption. You are at term, call your doctor /go to ER.

Radiating pain: Welcome to the radiating down the leg pain caused by the pressure of the baby on the nerves in your pelvis and into the vagina. This is normal but don't forget to tell your OB MD about them.

Pain: you need to see your primary care physician for evaluation.  The area you describe could be a groin (inner hip) strain. but not easily diagnosed without an exam.  You could try Advil or Alleve for a few days as long as symptoms don't worsen.

See OB: At this point in pregnancy you are close to delivery.  I would discuss this with my OB and be seen if they deem it necessary.

Probably normal: The vaginal discharge usually does increase during pregnancy, so it could be normal for you.  If you are having itching or irritation, then a yeast infection is also a possibility.

Not really: Be patient...you will know WHEN your water breaks.....not much warning to speak of in most cases.

Lightening: It is not the kind of lightening that strikes from the sky, rather it is the process of the baby dropping into the pelvis. There is usually a lot of pelvic pressure when that happens until labor actually starts.
