when blood test and prostate exams comes back normal, could you still have bone cancer of the iliac?

Not sure: Bone cancer has very specific imaging findings as well as symptoms. Metastatic prostate cancer to bone is a late stage disease phenomenon, and most unlikely in a 49 year old. Not sure which blood tests were normal (psa, alkaline phosphotase, ?), so am not positive how to answer this.

: Decreased T1 signal bone lesion is only important if aggressive features are present. Your lesion is small and radiologist makes a comment "no aggressive in appearance" so you should be fine. Take care.

Stop worrying: Bone cancer, either primary or metastatic, announces itself as a pain that's clearly not one of life's normal aches and pains, and/or a mass on a bone, or a sudden unexpected fracture. Unlike breast, prostate, colon, skin and cervical cancer, there's no worthwhile screens for primary bone cancer. If you have an obsessive fear of bone cancer, your physical can suggest reprogramming techniques.

Pain: Most of the time when we are talking about cancer of the bone it is from metastasis. That is were a cancer from another origin spreads to the bone.  Sometimes there is no symptom at all and we find these when we test by bone scan, xray, or ct scans.  The most common symptom when it develops is pain from pressure on the periosteum or covering of a bone. Fractures are also possible and cause pain.

You did not specify whether you meant a primary tumor, such as breast, colon, or lung, that has metastasized to a bone, or you really meant a primary bone tumor. If the former, the cancer is a stage 4 lesion - serious. If the latter, it depends. Need more info.

Depends...: There are different types of cancers of the bone. The 3 most common primary bone cancers are osteosarcoma, chondrosarcoma and ewing sarcoma. Cancers that originate in other places can metastasize to the bone.

Here are the stats: About 3000 persons in the us will get a primary bone cancer this year (incidence) chondrosarcoma (40+%) and osteosarcomas (28%) account for most of the adult cancers.

However, many more persons will have another cancer metastasize to the bones. Why, because 1.2 million persons will be diagnosed with some type of cancer this year, and 600, 000 of them will develop metastases to bone.

You need counseling: By your oncologist(if you have cancer). If you are simply worried, first find out if you have reasons to worry about or not.
