i have to have a test done for nicotine to get my insurance at the lowest rate. how long before the test do i need to quit smoking so it doesn't show up in the test? can this nicotine test detect marijuana use?

See below: Nicotine or its metabolite cotinine are not likely to be detectable a week after last exposure, unless you were exposed to heavy second hand smoke.
THC can be detectable for more than a week after last use, especially in a chronic use.r The drug can be detectable for three months in an obese chronic heavy user.

Maybe: It seems to me that smoking one thing is better than smokimg two things, as far as one's lungs are concerned. It is a good idea to smoke less in general. It's a little difficult to say that it's okay to use cannabis-seeing how it's illegal.

Possibly: Are you getting the effects?  If you are getting the effects then very likely you would have a positive test. Even if you do not feel the effects you might fail the test

: No way can this be accomplished.  You would be detectable for a minimum of 30 days if you stopped completely.

No: The testing you mention does not look for, and should not be affected by mj. Should consider your use of mj if it is causing you to worry about effects on tests (/life).

From what ?: Neither vitamins or ibuprofen will make you flunk a drug test. Chance ingestion of poppy seed muffins are a classic example where a common dietary item could trigger a false positive, this time to opiates (poppy) . You need to find out what agent caused you to fail and figure out how you might have been exposed.Just being in the same room with some weed smokers could make you flunk.

Positive w/in a day: I expect that is a 24 hour day. So, you'll likely test positive. At the time of testing,  cigarettes can make results unreliable - but that is not a pass. They'll just redo the test. So, unless you are close to the 24 hrs, you'll be snagged. Play it safe until it is legal. Be active to make your POV heard. Vote for candidates who reflect your ideas. Stay out of prison so you can vote.
