if i get my periods during cyclo progynova should i continue taking the pill?

Menopause: Cyclo progynova is a combination hormonal pill that is typically given to women in menopause. Bleeding in women in menopause always needs to be investigated for a potential precancerous or cancerous lesion. Gynecologists may also try cycloprogynova in women of reproductive age to stabilize their cycle. This may or may not work resulting in irregular breakthrough bleeding.

can clomid (clomiphene) and progynova make your period light?

Accepted Answer

Possibly: Clomid (clomiphene) is used to stimulate ovarian function and Progesterone is used to try to support the early pregnancy (assuming fertilization has occurred)  if the egg is not fertilized then menses will ensure a couple weeks later but it is normally normal to slightly heavy.  If it is light, check for pregnancy as it may be implantation bleeding.

i'm 26, missing period for 6 months due to hypothalamic ammenorhea, i've been put on cyclo-progynova. the first 2 months of taking it, i got my period in the 7 days of not taking it (like perscribed), but now, month 3 of taking it, no period. cause?

: Just assume you miss your period then you should check urine for ruling out pregnancy if you are sexual active without protection, just in case, then continue with the regimen. If period does not happen next month, you can see your doctor by then.

Estrogen: It is unusual to prescribe Estrogen without Progesterone. I would contact the prescribing physician and ask for clarification on the plan of care.

Yes: There many reasons for missing period and most are not worrisome, but go ahead and check pregnancy test.

Adjust meds: Your bcp can be changed to reduce your period, and cramping. If you are to take pills get more benefits

i switched my bcp to loestrogen. i just started my third pack but didn't get a period last week during the sugar pill week. is that normal?

Possible: It is not uncommon to have a very light period when taking ocp's, and to occasionally skip a period while taking the pill is not abnormal.  You should take a pregnancy test to rule out contraceptive failure.

End of cycle: That is the time the lining of the uterus is being shed.  This is necessary to allow normal pregnancy to grow in the uterus.  This is the end of the cycle, beginning of the new cycle.

Accepted Answer

Breakthrough bleed: This may just be a breakthrough bleeding.  If you skipped any pills this month that would be even more likely.  While it won't hurt to start the new pack early, its also safe to finish out this pack.  If any skipped pills though check a pregnancy test.
