i've been suffering with chronic idiopathic urticaria & angioedema for 6 months now. i still need 1/2 a tablet of 25 mg every 48 hrs. want to cure it.

Urticaria/angioedema: the chronic idiopathic type (if no cause is found) can last  much longer, and resolves on its own, and nobody can predict when exactly will it resolve, most important is symptom control. You mentioned half a tablet of the 25 mg every 48 hours!! of which drug? if it is an antihistaminic of any kind,that's a minimal dose and probably you won't need more,if it is a steroid, better taper it,  C ur MD

urticaria refers to hives, due to changes in blood flow to skin due to certain neuro-chemicals. Autoimmune urticaria suggests an association of these chemicals being released as a result of immune system fighting your own cells producing antibodies against nuclear components of cells such as those of thyroid glands (thyroiditis), intestines, pancreas, skin, kidneys etc.

Hard to associate : You're saying that this is occurs with your systemic urticaria. If there's a relationship it may be due to a substance in the tampon. The other possibility is that you're using the tampon because it's it's your cycle and it may be related to something there and not to the tampon at all.

Chronobiology: When one wakes up, the body is pumped with with epinephrine( norepinephrine) and steroid to prepare for hunting or gathering. These agents need to be mostly shut off at night to allow you to fall asleep . Since both of these agents counter itching and hives, they can account for what you have observed. There may be other factors involved but this is the simplest explanation.

No blood tests.: Idiopathic urticaria is due to an unknown mechanism.  There is no testing to confirm the diagnosis.  A complete blood count is often completed to rule out other causes, but no allergy testing or autoantibodies are needed.  Xolair has proven to be an effective treatment for IU that has failed convention treatments. No pretesting is needed to use this medication for urticarial.

Vit D supplement: An elevated CH50 may signal inflammation. The vit D level points to vitamin D insufficiency and need for a supplement.  Most cases of idiopathic urticaria have a very good prognosis especially if controlled with high dose of antihistamine.
