It depends: If you just had your blood drawn, then there is red swelling and pain, then some extra blood might have leaked under the skin. This will go away with time. If it has been a few days since you had your blood drawn, then you might be dealing with an infection, and you need to have your doctor check it out. You can put on some topical antibiotic and a bandaid, and call your doctor.

: Itch scratch cycle. It may have initially done so during healing but the mechanical effect of your scratching the site can create tissue injury that then itches during recovery, followed by scratching/itching/etc. Try covering the site when possible with a loose bandage &amp; avoiding scratching. A cold compress can transiently stop an itch. If you break the cycle it should fade.

Potentially this: could occur. Ask your health care provider to check it out as it might be an infection or a vascular issue that needs to be addressed.

i had blood drawn from my vein inner elbow a week ago..a dark patch developed but also faded but now two swellings have appeared..one near the blood draw another almost 4 inch further from the site? should i worry?

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, and physical examination. It would be prudent to call the clinic where you had the blood drawn and talk to the doctor.

Possible infection: Go see your md or the facility where the blood drawn.  Because of possibility that an infection  
is in communication with the vein, it should be evaluated and treated.

MRSA: This may be a methicillin-resistant staph aureus lesion. Sometimes these can be very indolent and then come to a head. This probably will need to be treated with warm compresses and perhaps sulfamethoxazole trimethoprim.

during blood draw is it fine to ask nurse to show me both sides of gauze right before nurse applies gauze on (injection site  ) .  the needle will already be inside my arm .or its wrong to ask to show gauze right before applying it on injection site?

Missing the point: What would be the goal of having nurse do that. Do you suspect they might be using dirty gauze? Is that common practice? Do you have or have heard of similar cases? Otherwise it might have to do with needle phobia and anxiety around blood draws?

Not likely to occur: The venipuncture site is usually small and heals well. Observe the site for any swelling, redness or drainage. If he has a fever or any of these signs, please see your PCP.
