May be an infection: Vaginal itching can have several causes. You may have a dermatologic condition. Or you may have an infection. The possible causes vary based on your age and risk factors. Your doctor can examine you and may run some tests to determine what is causing the problem. Until you see your doctor, you can try over-the-counter anti-itch creams. These may ease the itching but will not treat/cure the cause.

Yeast infection?: You may have a yeast infection. Yeast likes moist dark places and and frequently affects the vagina.  You can get medicine for this without a prescription.  If the itching persists after you treat for yeast, you should see your Gyn and have an exam as there are some other things that might cause these symptoms.  Best wishes!

Yeast infection: It sounds like a yeast infection. You can use an OTC antifungal and see if it cures it. If not, you need to see your GYN.

Try antifungal cream: Most acute itchy, creamy vaginal discharges are caused by a yeast or fungus called Monilia or Candida. Try to get an antifungal cream like Monistat which you can apply once a twice a day for 3 to 5 days + simple feminine hygiene"  steps like frequent washing with plain soap, keeping yourself dry, using a hairdryer, wearing loose cotton panties or none at all for a few days...otherwise  consult Gyn

STD: You should be screened for sexually transmitted diseases. This could be also yeast  infection or bacterial vaginosis.

Allergies/infection: There are many possibilities. The vulvar area is prone to environmental sensitivities, like allergies, that can cause itching. Why at night? Maybe you are sensitive to the laundry soap your sheets are washed in? Infections, such as an external yeast infection, or pubic lice, or even pinworm, are all possibilities. Get examined to rule those out.

Yeast: Vaginal itching without discharge can indicate infections like yeast or stis like herpes. It can indicate an allergic reaction to household products like certain soaps and laundry detergents. There are also some skin conditions liked lichen sclerosis which can cause vaginal itching.  Start with an over the counter yeast  cream. If not improving schedule a visit.

May be yeast?: Symptoms of a yeast infection may include: burning, redness &amp; itching of the vulva; burning with urination &amp; vaginal intercourse &amp; a clumpy, white, vaginal discharge with no odor. Sometimes the discharge isn’t apparent.  
If you do have a yeast infection - that shouldn't stop your period. Your doctor should be able to make an accurate diagnosis. Take care.
