May be an infection: Vaginal itching can have several causes. You may have a dermatologic condition. Or you may have an infection. The possible causes vary based on your age and risk factors. Your doctor can examine you and may run some tests to determine what is causing the problem. Until you see your doctor, you can try over-the-counter anti-itch creams. These may ease the itching but will not treat/cure the cause.

See your doctor: If OTC treatments have not relieved the symptoms an exam is needed.

Could be infection: The most common cause of itching in the vagina is a yeast infection. Lots of other infections also cause itching. If this is new for you, i'd recommend seeing your gynecologist for exam and treatment.
