The : The pain is likely due to free fluid in your stomach/pelvis that collected after the cyst ruptured. This can be very painful, and often requires strong pain medications until the fluif starts to be reabsorbed. If your pain has not subsided by now, see your doctor for a follow up.

"Severe" sounds bad: A woman with new "severe pelvic pain" should call her primary doctor or Ob-Gyn doctor right away. Possible causes include infection, obstruction, twisted ovary, cyst or tumor problem, pregnancy problem, etc. If she has no personal doctor, she has to go where she will be examined. Usually, that would be the Emergency Room. One can call 911 for an ambulance if there is no safe way to get to the E.R.

Pelvic pain: Severe pelvic pain needs a diagnosis. If your first gyn was unable to find a diagnosis, you need a second opinion. Has an ultrasound been done? Next step is laparoscopy. Two of the more obscure causes of such pelvic pain are endometriosis (laparoscopy required for diagnosis) and vulvar vestibulitis (tender swelling of glands in vulva). Also rule out pregnancy (ectopic).
