It could be a viral or bacterial infection or an auto-immune inflammation. In either case you ought to see your doctor as the treatments for the two possibilities are different.

Many things.: This could be many things; dry eyes, infection, uveitis, allergies, bleed.  You can try artificial tears, one drop 4 times a day to treat for dryness.  If not help or vision is affected, or there is pain, you should see and eye md for diagnosis and treatment options.

Eye &amp; ear infection: Otitis media &amp; conjunctivitis  go hand in hand, you need   to see you 1ry care physician  for treatment with oral antibiotics &amp; antibiotic eye drops.  Feel better.

i've been having red veins in my eye for months. what can it be?

Vision is priceless: Simple rubbing of your eye can cause some redness, but often resolves quickly. Allergies can cause redness, so does infection etc..Persistent redness/prominent vessels wtih symptoms--pain/discomfort, vision trouble etc...Should be checked by doc. If this something new, especially if only on one side, consult doc for eval. Don't ignore this--vision is priceless. Good luck.

Hemorrhage: If this is strongly red, does not hurt and does not affect the vision  then it is almost certainly a benign hemorrhage.   This comes from a slight leak from a vein opened a tiny bit by trauma, coughing etc.  It will spontaneously absorb in 3-10 days with no adverse consequences .  You only need attention if it affects the eye function or there is bruising/bleeding elsewhere in the body.

how to get rid of a bloodshot eye?  i have had a red speck in my eye since i was a little girl.  is there any way to clear it up?

Maybe : Episodically red eyes may be from dryness, allergies, lack of sleep, environmental conditions/exposures, etc.  A trial of preservative free artificial tears 4 to 6 times/day during the "red-eye" time may be helpful.For itchy eyes, a medication like Zaditor (ketotifen) may relieve symptoms. The red spot you describe maybe a Nevus, Angioma, melanosis, or other, all of which requires exam. It won't go away.

it's going on 3 weeks since i have been punched in my eye the redness in my eye is going away but it's going slowly what can i use?

Artificial tears!: You can try artificial tears.  It would be a good idea to have the eye examined and make sure there is no damage or uveitis that can cause permanent scarring inside the eye.

i have slight head congestion, mostly sneezing and this morning i woke up with eye matter and redness in my eye. i bouth simllason pink eye relief and have applied this once...about 20 minutes ago. should i do something differently?

: No, you have a viral upper respiratory infection and conjunctivitis. You can take medication(s) or eye drops for symptom relief if you want to but it does not change the progression, you will be fine in 5-7 days.

Eye pus: Yes.  This sounds concerning for a conjunctivitis and should be evaluated. Sometimes topical antibiotics are needed.

Depends: Is the redness acute - an infection perhaps, then that will need treatment.  If the redness is chronic it could be allergy or eye dryness.  See your ophthalmolgist to make that distinction and get you on the proper treatment.  Rarely, a few just have excess veins on the eye surface which makes the eye look red.  These can be diminished by laser treatment.
