for about three months now i have had random bruises show up on my legs and hips and even a few on my lower abdomen can u tell me what it might be ?

Need a blood test: If by "random bruises" you mean bruises that are forming in the absence of any injury, you need to see your doctor to rule out blood disorders.

Many reasons: May be bug bite, may be medication related, may be due to a blood problem that is causing easy bruising, it could also be due to a connective tissue problem i.e. A skin problem that increases easy bruising.  From your description does not appear to be allergic reaction but a health professional may need to look  at it. You need to show it to your doctor if it keeps happening.

Possibly: If you haven't had any trauma to your legs, or don't take any medications that could lead to abnormal blood clotting like aspirin, Aleve, (naproxen) ibuprofen, Excedrin, etc then you may want to see you doctor to make sure there isn't something more concerning like an abnormality with your platelets or coagulation studies.

You might have: A blood coagulation disorder if you are not on any blood thinners.  Have your doctor check you out with blood tests.

Bruising: Age? Supplements/foods like garlic, fish oil, gingko? Blood thinner like coumadin (warfarin)? Nsaids like aspirin, motrin, advil, aleve, feldene, etc? Blood vessels become more fragile as we age & can  break more easily, causing bruises. Supplements for memory, circulation, heart can thin blood, but not as much as coumadin (warfarin). Nsaids interfere with clot formation. Have fp do CBC for other causes.

started gababpentin300mg 3xdaily 2 weeks ago & now i have a lot of large random bruises on my legs, below knees. is this a side effect or concerning?

Bruises: Not likely to be due to gabapentin but certainly needs urgent attention before things get worse. Start by going to the nearest Emergency facility.

Bleeding disorder: It is unlikely from gabapentin but more likely related to slow blood clotting, that could be dangerous particularly if it happens suddenly. I would go to the ER.

Although: Nausea ; even lightheadness/ dizziness may be explained by panic ; anxiety - i don't know how bruising of legs would fit in.

Bruises: If the bruises are over your legs only this is consistent with itp immune thrombocytopenia purpura which means destruction of platelets 70-80% unknown etiology could be hiv, hepatitis c , rheumatologic diseases joint pains if any, helicobacter pylori of the stomach or if you have bowel problems could be from celiac disease or gluten sensitivity at any rate  self limiting in most cases see speciali.

Get examined: This is never normal.  See your doctor.  He/she will listen to you, perform an examination, and possibly order tests to find out what's wrong.
