i have little red dots on my upper and lower legs. they dont itch. not sure if it could be that i was tanning on monday something i never do. only became aware of it yesterday. ?

Red Dots on Legs: Not knowing what meds you are on, age, skin tone (Fitz scale), what you put on your skin (sunscreens), or pictures, this makes it difficult to inform you, other than consulting a dermatologist, your PCP- Petechiae are little red papule/dots, but you did not indicate details. I don't want to overly concern you, as this may be a reaction to UV rays, but without pictures . . . Please consult your doc

Could be: Sounds like folliculitis, which commonly is staph or strep species. Antibacterial soap and/or astringent can often help dry & kill the bacteria topically. If persists / spreads, may need Chlorhexidine scrub or to see dr for antibiotics.

Needs checkup: possible petechiae that are small fine red dots, may need to check your plateletes from a CBC and also coag studies

Exam needed: These may be petechiae which can be due to fragility of tiny blood vessels in your skin. It is not possible to be sure without examining them. See your physician if they persist.

Probable insect bite: should respond well to OTC 1% hydrocortisone cream: a thin film applied 2-3 times/day.You can use Benadryl or Zyrtec for itching or swelling.

Possibly: It's not easy to know in this type of forum, so i would have this checked out.  If you are suspecting bed bugs, then check the seams of your mattress for small dark brown/black  "sesame seed" sized bugs and bring them in a ziplock to the doctor if you find them.  If not, it could be many things - so have it checked out either way.

Not likely: Any spots associated with an STD is usually on palms and soles ,  from secondary syphilis.Maybe a bug bite.

See doc: need to see your dermatologist for eval and possible tx...this could be an insect bite that might have become infected. The fact that it is spreading and painful should alert you to be seen by your doc.

Don't know: These lesions would need to be examined,  a history  obtained &amp; other tests may be necessary in order to diagnose them. Usually the lesions needs to be identified to determine the solution.
