Reflux: A sore throat can be the result of acid reflux. An earache form eustachian tube dysfunction (the tube from the ear to nose) as a result of reflux is more common in children. Is should also be understood that more commonly sore throats and/or earaches are not related to reflux at all.

No: These types a food alone will not cause acid reflux, but if you already suffer from this problem certain types of foods can make the symptoms worse.

Accepted Answer

No: Acid reflux is physiologic. In other words, it's normal. However, it becomes pathologic when it bothers you. Fermented food doesn't cause acid reflux any more than non-fermented food. However, "bad" acid reflux allows acid to get high enough back up esophagus to cause sore throat. Antacids (calcium carbonate), H2 blockers &amp; proton pump inhibitors help. Stay upright after small meals.

sometimes after i eat sugary foods my throat/esophagus feels really sore and sensitive. is this acid reflux i'm experiencing?

Most likely...: Do the 'sugary foods' you're eating have anything else in common?  High fat?  Citrus?  Tomatoes?  Caffeine?  All of these food elements can allow stomach acid to back up into the esophagus much more easily.  Talk with your doctor; they may suggest trying an over the counter proton pump inhibitor -- a powerful acid blocker like Prevacid (lansoprazole) or prilosec.  Good luck!

Yes it  can.: Acid Reflux can cause Heart burn, Stomach irritation after you eat. If this has been untreated for years can lead to scarring of lower part of Esophagus and there by narrowing. Preventing the normal passage of food to stomach. And you can feel food is stuck in chest, throat. 
There are other causes for this symptoms too.
I do not know your age . 
Get examined by GI for definitive Dx

: Acid reflux can explain your symptoms. if you are overweight, losing weight is imperative. It would be prudent to consult a GI doctor.

Reflux: can use antacids for immediate problem or milk. Prilosec daily is better in long term if problem is chronic.
Limit caffeine intake, alcohol, spicy foods

Not reflux: Certainly not acid reflux!

GERD LYMPH NODES: Swollen lymph nodes in neck are not part of GERD.  See your health care team. Soon so someone can figure out what is going on.

See a GI doctor: Not only do you want to be sure that your throat symptoms are related to the acid reflux, but you also want to be evaluated to see why you are having such significant reflux or hyperacidity.
