Yes...but: Most bruises reflect extravasated of blood in the surface of the skin. Very common in pts. >65 y/o, females, pts. On anticoagulants ( warfarin, aspirin, plavix, (clopidogrel) aggrenox, Pradaxa ), pts with low platelets (petechiae). Bruises depending on the location, number, color are of value in forensic medicine to help victims from physical abuse death or alive where obviously subcutaneous tissue is injured.

A bit more than that: A serious blow to the temple that results in a skull fracture can lacerate the middle meningeal artery and cause an epidural hematoma. This is a neurosurgical emergency that must be evaluated and treated promptly or a person can slip into a coma and die. A slower subdural hematoma can cause issues as well. Any head trauma with changes in mental status should be evaluated promptly.

why would my skin get petechiae instead of a regular bruise after repeatedly being bumped with a narrow but blunt object?

Need platelets check: perhaps small cells in your blood called platelets are low. Why are you getting repeatedly bumped by a narrow blunt object? Can you where protection against the object when doing that activity.

i get huge purple bruises if i just scratch my skin that is itchy. i never used to bruise so easily. i'm 48. could this just be from getting older?

Bit unusual: Sure, thinning of the skin with old age is normal and this does result in a higher propensity to bruise; however, 48 is on the young side for this phenomenon. This deserves testing of the blood coagulation system and can be initiated by your primary doctor.

is deeper than the tattoo needle will go, and also find out if it is very vascular, which could cause a problem with bleeding.  Get medical eval & clearance b4 u proceed.

i get green spots on my skin from time to time. i bruise easily. i take iron then spots go away. what should i say to my doctor or google in meantime?

"I bruise easily": And that would be the explanation. If you have a condition that predisposes you to bleeding under the skin, then you would need to watch your blood counts (hemoglobin/hematocrit) always. Iron is a supplement to increase the number of red blood cells the bone marrow makes to replace dead blood cells.

i landed on my head and my knees kicked straight into my left eye. will i likely get a bruise?

Accepted Answer

Not always: The eye bones almost certainly prevented significant eye damage.  But the force of the knee blow to the tissue over these bones could have broken capillaries and may cause some degree of bleeding leading to a black eye.  You can help reduce this by ice packs for several days.  Otherwise make up a good story to tell your friends about how it happened.

hit the right side of my head in the temple area two days ago. i had pain/pressu in that area for a few hours or so. no headache/unconscious/dizziness.there is still very faint pressure, get worse if i press on that area like a bruise.shall i worry?

: Not likely.  Local bruises from a knock on side of head would not be uncommon.  Slight pain normal.  Unless you are experiencing more severe symptoms, you should monitor your head for changes.

Accepted Answer

No: If you did not lose consciousness and you remember what happened,it is highly unlikely that you have sustained a serious brain injury. Your symptoms are expected in a minor head injury.

regarding bruises :  is it a problem forming a clot or problem with the skin ?   i get a bruise now and then, but i do not bleed anywhere.!  also a vegetarian, no vitamins . 43f.    not pale, runner .

Accepted Answer

Easy bruising: Easy bruising without bleeding is very common esp in athletes/ runners.  If otherwise healthy  not to worry . If going to have elective surgery let the doctor know.
