Local measures first: You hit your ulnar nerve.  Pain medicine such as Advil (ibuprofen) will help.  Warm compresses may help as well.  How long it takes for the pain and numbness to go away depends on how hard you hit it.  If the symptoms start to subside within the next couple of days, then just be patient  If it gradually gets worse, you will need to call your physician or a physiatrist. Exam needed: It is possible you fractured a bone when you fell on your elbow. In order to properly evaluate this problem you should go to a medical clinic where a complete history and physical will be done. X-rays of your arm may than be ordered by the physician there. Well! : As long as u have full pom & it is painless u may have olecronon bursitis. This would present as a fluid filled sack @ the tip of the elbow. U should b cn by an orthopedic surgeon 4 eval, xam & x- rays 2 b sure. If this is what u have some may aspirate & inject with steroids. If there's any abrasion or cut over the area there is a chance of infection. Increase in pain swelling & pain report right.

Yes: Not being able to fully move your arm and lots of pain are indications this might indeed be serious. You may possibly have fractured a bone or dislocated your elbow. It sounds reasonable to see a doctor later today for further evaluation. For now you can apply ice, avoid moving it and take medicines like Tylenol (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen for pain. Homeopathic Arnica may also help reduce your pain.

Eval: how do you know that is what it is?  Have you had it before?

I would get an evaluation :  X-ray to rule out a fracture, and you may need a joint aspiration (suck the fluid of the elbow to analyze it)

in the meantime keep all pressure off of it, take Motrin as directed and apply an ace wrap
