Hematoma: The black discoloration is bleeding. Initially after such an injury this pool of blood or hematoma can be drained. If it is already dry it may dissolve over several months. If the injury is severe the nail may fall off and you will get a new nail in 4-6 months. In severe cases a doctor may have to remove the nail in order to repair a laceration underneath. X-rays may be needed to rule out fracture.

Ouch.: You have a hematoma (bruise) under the nail, and like any bruise, it will resolve by itself over time. The nail may or may not peel off in the process. Rarely, severe pain will develop, which means pressure is building up under the nail. If that happens, see a doctor right away.

i've a black mark under my toenail for the past 4 months which hasn't grown or reduced in size. i no i haven't injured my foot and now i've got 3 much smaller marks on my areola that are the same as on under my toe nail. should i be concerned?

SEE DERMATOLOGIST: You are on the right track when you consider trauma, but since the back mark under the toenail has not changed in several months, I  believe that a trusted dermatologist should be seen, to check both sites, although I know of no single  condition which would effect both areas.

I don't know?: Is it swollen? Is there pain? Is there deformity?   Medical history, X-ray and physical exam normally  can rule in or rule out a fracture &amp; provide an accurate diagnosis.

i have been on my feet for 18 hours over 2 days now i can't put any weight on my foot  at all.  should i go to hospital as i am working all week?

NEED REST PAIN MEDS: It is all related to your standing on your feet for 18hours over 2days.You have tired muscles and need rest and if there is pain you can take some pain medicine like Ibuprofen or tylenol (acetaminophen) etc.
If after that you still have pain and can not walk without discomfort, consult your doctor.

i have horrible pain in my left ankle going on 2 weeks now. it kills me to put full weight on my foot and the pain shoots up my leg sometimes?

EValuation: I would definitely see an orthopedic surgeon.  From the description, it is not possible to provide an accurate diagnosis without more details or an exam.

i had my nonweight bearing  cast removed a week ago now in a boot sense putting weight on my foot it swells and turns red is this normal?

Foot  swelling: This is not unusual. Your leg needs to acclimate to the new stresses on it. This should go away with time. Try to intermittently elevated the leg to get rid of the redness. If the redness does not go away check with your doctor to make sure you do not have an infection.

Sitting: In the least stressful posture, sitting, you will give your best score.  Be encouraged that you are still improving.  The other positions are compromised by your tightness from surgery, but will improve with stretch and therapy.  Carry on.

See your doctor: Pigmented skin lesion should be evaluated by your physician.  If they have changed in size or color, you may need to have them biopsied.

: From what you described it is likely to be a blood clot under the skin. It should resolve in a few weeks. If it does not resolve, gets bigger, ulcerates, develops a nodule or other spots develop, see a doctor.
