8 weeks: The metacarpal bones, if well aligned, will take 6-8 weeks to heal. However, the bone will require another 4 weeks to remodel and to regain its original strength.

Nonunion: This is called a nonunion. Sometimes when a fracture does not heal the orthopedic doctors need to go in and do a surgery to pin it. Talk to your doctor about options.

4 weeks: Bones in the hand heal generally in about 4-6 weeks even thogh this is a fibrous union. Fractures in the hand will remian visible on xrays for a much longer time.

Inflammation: Bones heal through an inflammatory mechanism.  So what you are describing may be a combination of inflammation, swelling, and perhaps some degree if scar tissue formation.  Don't hesitate to discuss with your doctor, should resolve as fracture heals up.

Yes: Both fractures you mention can and should be treated at the same time.  Treatment may include temporary immobilization in a cast/splint, bone setting, surgery or a combination of all three.  The goal is to get the fractures to heal in the best position possible to reduce long term problems and promote early motion exercises in order to get you back in the game as quickly as possible.
